• Both students were invited to visit Governor Gordon
Two Etna Elementary School students have been selected as winners of the World Kindness Day Contest. Fifth grade student, Emma Diaz, and fourth grade student, Quoi Chadwick, were recognized for their artistic depictions of Kindness, and were invited to visit with Governor Mark Gordon at his office last week. Though Chadwick was unable to make the trip to Cheyenne, Diaz did visit with the Governor.
Sponsored by Kindness Wyoming, the contest invited students throughout the State of Wyoming to create any drawing or artwork related to kindness.
“The students that participated in the contest really showed off their abilities,” said EES Art Teacher, Janet Castle. “Every entry had a story that was being told through their imagination. This was a wonderful opportunity for my students to express themselves in a creative way.”
Castle hopes that the State will offer the contest annually, giving students an opportunity to showcase their art and to encourage students to focus on kindness as an important personal attribute.
“My hope, for my students, is that they continue their passion for art and develop their craftsmanship.” Castle also hopes that her future students will embrace the idea that “You never know unless you try.”
