Star Valley defended their home mat for the 4A West Regional title as they fended off favorite Kelly Walsh 239.0 to 233.5. It was the first regional wrestling tournament held at SVHS since 2014. 

Individually, the Braves advanced six grapplers to the finals with Kimball Parry (120), Tel Parry (138), Kooper Burk (157) and Grant Thomson (285) all winning regional titles. Damien Burgess (175) and Eli Matautia (215) advanced to the finals and placed second. 

Other Star Valley athletes making the podium included Nolan Hyde (4th at 113), Caisen Miserany (4th at 138), Ty Thompson (3rd at 144), Hazen Hess (4th at 150), Cameron Mickelsen (4th at 165) and Ryan Talbot (3rd at 190). 

Three of the Star Valley wrestlers will be looking to repeat as Wyoming state champs next weekend. Kimball Parry won last year as a freshman, Tel Parry is looking for this third title after winning in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Kooper Burk won last year as a junior and will be looking for another in his final weekend of his prep career. 

As a team, the Braves placed fifth last year in the 4A bracket with 175.5 team points. Thunder Basin ran away with the 2024 title with 260.0 team points and will be the favorites as teams try and track them down at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper starting on Thursday February 27.
