Roughly 20 students from Star Valley Middle School’s leadership and government program visited the Wyoming State Capitol Building last week to participate in the legislative process. Students and their advisors met with local lawmakers including Representative Andrew Byron, Representative McKay Erickson and Senator Dan Docksater.

Representative McKay Erickson (R-Afton) said the students were able to dive right into the legislative process and even participated in a couple of bills.

“Man, I am just so impressed with those kids,” said Rep. Erickson during a SVI Radio interview. “They each had two bills that they looked into and they asked really good questions for Senator Dockstader, Representative Byron and myself. We were all three very impressed with their behavior as well as their level of engagement.”

The students were able to spend time on the House floor and observe the legislative process.
