High school rodeo results from April 25 & 26

• With two more rodeos taking place this week, here’s a look at how things went last week

The 2024-25 high school rodeo season resumed this past weekend with a rodeo on both Friday and Saturday at the Bannock County Event Center in Pocatello, Idaho. Local junior high and high school athletes from Star Valley and Cokeville competed.

Finishing in the Top 10 on Friday, Brooklyn Brown of Afton placed second place in Barrel Racing with a time of 15.928, while Bridget Scaffide of Alpine took tenth with a time of 16.159. Scaffide finished in second place in the Breakaway Roping event with a time of 5.200. Brown was eighth with a 15.130. Brown also finished in seventh in Goat Tying in a time of 11.190, followed by Tyalar Nate of Cokeville in ninth with a 14.060.

In High School Team Roping on Friday, Ross Hilton of Afton, with his partner Kruz Smith of Montpelier, finished in second place with a time of 14.270. Ryder Kerr of Afton won the Tie Down Roping with a 15.040. Steele Pope of Cokeville finished fourth with 18.910 with Daxton Pope in eighth place with a 24.820.

Finishing Top 10 in Saturday’s rodeo included Bridget Scaffide in eighth place in Barrel Racing with a 16.132. Jill Jackson of Etna took fifth in Goat Tying with a 10.910 with Cokeville’s Taylar Nate taking eighth after a time of 13.960. Jackson also took ninth in Pole Bending with a time of 22.917, followed by Payzli Nield of Afton in tenth with a 23.101.

Hilton and Kruz had the fastest time in Saturday’s Team Roping with just a 7.670. Case Kerr from Afton finished second in Tie Down with a time of 19.410, with Kutler Keetch of Cokeville taking seventh, Cinch Pope Cokeville in ninth and Ryder Kerr in tenth.

Two more rodeos are scheduled to take place this weekend in Grace, Idaho. The Wyoming Club will host their own rodeos at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds May 16 and 17.
