Congresswoman Cheney issues response to President Biden’s executive orders

Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) issued a statement Wednesday in response to a flurry of executive orders signed by President Biden on the day of his inauguration.

In the statement, Cheney said that “Today’s inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris marks an important moment for us to com together as Americans to combat the unprecedented crises we face.  The Executive Orders President Biden signed today unfortunately don’t move us in that direction.”

Her statement went on to read that “We face significant challenges that require bipartisan responses. Today’s Executive Orders revers important policies and impose significant economic cost that will imperil our recovery.”

In his first two days of office, President Biden has signed 24 executive orders and directives. These orders range from a mask order on all federal property, rejoining the World Health Organization, extending the pause on student loan payments, rejoining the Paris Climate Accords, revoking the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline and cutting off funding for the construction of the board wall, among others.

Below is Congresswoman Cheney’s full statement, which was issued on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2021.

Today’s inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris marks an important moment for us to com together as Americans to combat the unprecedented crises we face.

“The Executive Orders President Biden signed today unfortunately don’t move us in that direction. Rejoining the deeply flawed Paris Climate Accord and blocking the Keystone XL Pipeline will eliminate jobs, increase the cost of energy, and embolden our adversaries. Meanwhile, blocking funding for important border security enhancements, including the continued construction of the wall, lays the foundation for increased illegal immigration.

“We face significant challenges that require bipartisan responses. Today’s Executive Orders reverse important policies and impose significant economic cost that will imperil our recovery.”
