COVID-19 Cases in Star Valley Increases to 24, SVH Staff Test Positive

The cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased to 24 total in Star Valley this week.  According to Star Valley Health, the new cases do include some hospital staff.

According to updated information from Star Valley, their are currently 5 active cases of  the virus in Star Valley, with an additional case in Kemmerer, which was reported earlier this week.

The Public Relations office of Star Valley Health also confirmed to SVI News that all active cases are recovering at home with no hospitalizations at this time.

“Positive cases of COVID-19 in Star Valley have more than doubled since Sunday, June 28th
increasing to twenty-four positive cases. This represents a 118% increase in coronavirus cases
for Star Valley in the past four days. The most recent positive cases include healthcare workers
at Star Valley Health.

The workers were immediately placed on leave to prevent any further exposure to patients or
staff. In addition, widespread employee testing has been conducted for employees and patients
that may have been in contact with the positive workers. Employees will only return to work
upon a negative coronavirus test result. Star Valley Health continues to follow the guidance of
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Wyoming Department of Health
in its response to this pandemic.

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb in Wyoming as it does nationwide. “As we
approach the holiday weekend, we all have the shared responsibility to keep our community
safe,” said SVH CEO Bren Lowe. “The preventative measures of physical distancing, wearing
masks and washing hands help us all remain healthy”.
