Independent News Briefs: April 18, 2018

The latest edition of the Star Valley Independent is out and in the pages of the local paper, publishing since Feb. 13, 1901, you’ll find a report on on the conditions of the Porcupine Slide on Greys River as spring arrives in western Wyoming’s high country.

• Hemp oils, what about the distribution and use of the product in Wyoming? The state’s Division of Criminal Investigation has some legal advice for you in today’s Star Valley Independent.

• Lincoln County’s municipalities are considering the pros and cons of the sixth penny initiative. The details in this week’s Star Valley Independent.

• South Lincoln County is looking at a hospital district mill levy. The report in today’s paper.

• In municipal news, Star Valley Ranch is moving forward with a new dog park for that community and Afton is looking for a new town administrator.

• Across the state, a reminder about gathering antlers on BLM land, flood projections Cowboy State rivers and the Wyoming Department of Health has announced new requirements on immunizations.  That’s in today’s Star Valley Independent.

• The ribbon was cut on Saturday, opening the new Thayne Cutter Race Museum and the champions for this year’s cutter racing seasons have been announced. Find both those reports in today’s paper.

•In the cooking column, Mom’s Kitchen, Eileen Hale offers some recipes for meals you can make in a hurry.
