Lady Braves volleyball opening play at Cokeville Tourney

Although the Lady Braves volleyball team is the only Fall sport at SVHS to be going through a transition to the 4A classification, those types of changes will not be noticeable this weekend as the program plays in Cokeville at the annual tournament where small and large schools collide in one of the better groups of competition in the region.

The Lady Braves went (20-12) last year in Wyoming’s 3A classification but are now part of the 4A Southwest along with Evanston, Green River and Jackson Hole.

The 4A Northwest is made up of Cody, Riverton, Kelly Walsh and Rock Springs.

Sticking with tradition, the Lady Braves have been handed a difficult group on Friday as part of Pool ‘B’ along with Campbell County, Bear Lake and Lyman.

The Lady Braves junior varsity will play at 10:30 a.m. on Friday against Lyman High School with the varsity to follow. It is the first of back-to-back matches with Star Valley facing the Gillette Camels beginning at 1 p.m.

The Lady Braves will wrap up Friday play against the Bear Lake Bears beginning at 6 p.m.
The team’s performance on Friday will determine which bracket they will compete in on Saturday.

Pool ‘A’ includes host Cokeville, Grace (ID), Green River and Alta (Sandy, Utah).

Pool ‘C’ is comprised of Rich County (UT), Evanston, Mountain View and Preston (ID).
