Sheriff’s Office Issues Fraud Alert

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of another phone scam, this time involving the department’s phone number.

The sheriff’s office stated that calls with the caller ID of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, calling from the number 307-885-5231, is stating to callers that they have warrants and officers are on their way.  The caller requests to call another phone number to pay for the warrant.  They may also tell you to purchase gift cards to pay them.

The Sheriff’s Office warns that these calls are not coming from them and are fraudulent.  They also advise that you do not call the other number and never give your credit card number out to callers, warning that phone scams often increase during tax season.

Less than one week ago Our Valley Pharmacy warned their customers of similar scam that involved their local phone number.
