According to information contained in a press release by the Cedar City Police Department, “Last night around 9:16pm, officers from the Cedar City Police Department were notified of a Criminal Mischief incident at Cedar High School, 703 W 600 S. A witness reported hearing someone inside the school smashing and breaking things. Officers arrived and set up a containment. There was an exterior window shattered.”

“High School officials responded and Officers cleared the school but didn’t find a suspect. Video surveillance from inside the school showed a single, white male suspect who appeared to be carrying a handgun. It also showed him firing the gun inside the school and evidence showed he had fired into two windows. Additionally, the suspect fired into the locking mechanism of an interior door.”

“A short time later, officers were notified of a “car-jacking” in progress at an address on the 900 S block of 25 E.. This suspect matched the description of the suspect observed inside the school. Officers responded to that area and found the armed suspect had entered an unlocked home and was confronted by the homeowner. At gunpoint, the suspect stole keys from the victim and started leaving in the victim’s vehicle. He abandoned the vehicle a short distance away and fled on foot.”

According to the release, the suspect made five other attempts to enter homes and cars, as residents reported hearing someone trying to enter their homes and vehicles in the area were found with the doors open.
Officers from all over Iron County responded to assist. There were officers from the Cedar City Police Department, Enoch City Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, Parowan City Police Department, SUU Public Safety and the Utah Highway Patrol.
The suspect was ultimately located and arrested in the area of 400 E Hillside Place. He was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance and later booked into the Iron County Jail. The suspect was identified as 28 year old Talon Sessions.
This is still an active investigation and more information may be forthcoming.

According to public bookings by the Iron County Jail, Sessions has been charged with Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, Discharging firearms, Aggravated Robbery, Theft of a firearm or operable vihicle, Burglary, Aggravated Burglary and Fugitive From Justice.

According to LCSO Sheriff, Shane Johnson, the office is in contact with authorities in Utah and Sessions will be transferred back to Wyoming after facing the current charges in Iron County.

Sessions and Rowdy Ford were both connected to the Our Valley Pharmacy burglary in Thayne which took place on February 9. Video footage of the alleged burglars was posted online and broadcast by SVI Media as part of the investigation. Ford was later arrested and a warrant was produced for Sessions.
