Proceeds will help cover the cost of their Disneyland Parade performance this summer
The Star Valley Marching Braves are raffling three Amazon gift cards as a fundraiser to help cover the costs of their trip to perform in a Disneyland Parade this June. Two of the cards are worth $500, and the grand prize card is worth $1000.
Ticket sales opened last week and will conclude on Friday, February 28, with each raffle ticket priced at $15. Winners will be drawn and announced during halftime at the SVHS Boys Varsity Basketball game taking place that evening at home. Raffle winners do not need to be present at the game to win. Band officials will directly contact the winners with the good news.
“In addition to the parade performance, the Marching Braves will have an actual Recording Studio Session with Disney conductors and sound engineers,” said Kurt Sand, Band Directory. “This trip will be packed with many great experiences and chances to make life-long memories.”
Band members participating in the raffle fundraiser will receive nearly $13 for each ticket that they sell, and can carry as many as 25 tickets at a time as they work to sell tickets to the public. Community members interested in purchasing a ticket can contact any band members, parents or advisors to arrange purchase of one or more raffle tickets.
“We have printed 2500 tickets for this raffle,” said Dani Call, who serves as an assistant to Sand, in communication with band parents and families about the fundraiser. “If we sell all the tickets, we will have raised $37,500.00. We need to subtract the cost of the Gift Cards ($2000.00), the cost of transporting our instruments and uniforms to California ($1000.00), and the cost of the Student Lottery (up to $2200.00). This is potentially a total of $5200.00 in expenses. That leaves $32,300.00 to be divided up to all ticket sales.”
Band members and their families, as well as the community members wanting to support the band will want to keep in mind that “Amazon is a worldwide company. We can send the winning gift cards anywhere. Reach out to extended family and friends all over the world.”
“This will be the third time the Marching Braves will have performed at Disneyland,” said Sand. “It is truly an amazing experience for so many reasons. For many of our kids, this is the first time they will have set a major life goal and worked to see it actually happen. That is so powerful. For some, this will be their first time on an airplane, first time to southern California, first time touching the salt water of the Pacific Ocean. It is really cool!”
