SVI Sports Preview: Sept. 6-8

• Kemmerer High School
Football: The Rangers will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak to the Lyman Eagles this Friday evening with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Rangers officially opened up the season at 1-0 with a forfeit win over Saratoga. The Eagles lost in Pinedale, 28-22. Volleyball: The Lady Rangers will be in Afton on Friday and Saturday as part of the Star Valley Invitational. Kemmerer will be partnered with Logan, Utah as part of the event and will be in Pool ‘B’ on Friday along with Cokeville, Evanston and Sugar-Salem (ID).
Golf: The golf team will be at the 2A West Regionals in Thermopolis on Thursday and Friday.
Swimming: The girls swim team will be at Lyman this Friday.

• Bear Lake High School
Football: The Bears are on the road this Friday as they travel to St. Anthony to face the South Fremont Cougars. Bear Lake lost 41-13 to the Jackson Broncs a week ago. Listen to the game on KVSI radio out of Montpelier (101.7 FM & 1450 AM) or online at svinews.com/radio.
Volleyball: The Lady Bears are coming off their first victory of the season, a 3-2 win over Grace. They will be in Randolph, Utah Thursday evening as they take on the Rich County Rebels.
Cross-Country: The distance runners will be at the huge Tiger-Grizz Invite in Idaho Falls this Friday afternoon. Teams from Idaho, Utah and Wyoming are expected to be in attendance.

 

• Cokeville High School
Football: After picking up an 20-13 upset win over the top-ranked Mountain View in Wyoming’s 2A classification, the Panthers will travel to Carbon County where they will take on the Southeast Cyclones in a game played at Rawlins High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be carried on KVSI out of Montpelier, Idaho (101.7 FM & 1450 AM) and also online here at svinews.com/radio. Video coverage is a possibility and will be carried here at SVI-3 if circumstances allow.
Volleyball: The Lady Panthers will be in Afton as part of the SVHS Volleyball Invitational. They will be in Pool ‘B’ on Friday and will face off against Evanston, Sugar-Salem and a combination team from Logan (UT) and Kemmerer.

 

• Pinedale High School
Football: The Wranglers opened up their season 1-0 with a 28-22 win over visiting Lyman last weekend. Pinedale will now make their way to Jackson where they will play the Broncs for the first time since 1982. The Wranglers will be looking to reverse history as they have not defeated the Broncs in this rarely-played match up since 1960, a span of eight games. Volleyball: The Lady Wranglers will play in the Rawlins Invitational, a tournament that often serves as a state tournament preview. Every 3A team is expected to be in attendance.
Golf: The Wranglers will be in Afton as part of the 3A West Regionals taking place at Star Valley View Golf Course.
Swimming: The swim teams will be at Lyman on Friday.

 

• Star Valley High School
Football: The Braves varsity team will be in Sugar City for the first-ever meeting between Star Valley and Sugar-Salem on Friday evening. The Braves are coming off an impressive 42-7 victory over visiting Blackfoot while the Diggers obliterated the Snake River Panthers, 67-0. Both teams are (1-1) on the season. Tune into the Aspen Physical Therapy Kickoff Show beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Swift 98.7 FM in Star Valley or listen online at svinews.com/radio. This game will also be broadcast in high-definition by SVI here at svinews.com.
Volleyball: The Lady Braves will be on their home floor as they host teams from Wyoming Idaho and Utah for the annual SVHS Invite. Star Valley is part of Pool ‘A’ along with Snake River, Malad and Hillcrest. Look for video coverage of the Lady Braves on Saturday here at SVI.
Cross-Country: The distance runners will be in Idaho Falls on Friday afternoon for the Tiger-Grizz Invitational.
Golf: Star Valley will play host to the rest of the 3A West for Regionals this Friday and Saturday.
