Vonda Draney

Vonda Kay Draney, age 85, passed away January 31, 2025, at her home in Riverdale, Preston, Idaho with her husband at her side. She was born March 8, 1939, in Afton, Wyoming, the daughter of Nels and Amanda Sanderson. She attended school at Etna, Wyoming elementary and Star Valley High School, in Afton, Wyoming, where she served as Freshman Class Secretary and Freshman Homecoming Attendant. Vonda was a member of the yearbook staff, pep star club, and cadence corps. She was crowned Homecoming Queen for the school year of 1956 – 1957. After high school, she attended business college in Denver, Colorado. Upon returning from school, she married Terryl Draney, son of Elno and Laura Draney, on June 11, 1958, in the Idaho Falls Temple, and then supported him in getting his college degrees in engineering.
While living in Ellensburg, Washington, she got her Associates Degree in History from Central Washington University. Her passion and expertise was genealogical research and family history.
They were blessed with three wonderful, talented children: Kevin, David and Linda.
Vonda served in practically every church calling that sisters can serve in: wards and stakes in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which were located in Fairborn, Ohio; Manchester, Connecticut; Canyon Park, Washington State.
Vonda helped plan and build two of their family homes. She and her husband served a 2-year mission in the Logan, Utah Temple. Vonda was the glue and inspiration that kept the family together.
She is survived by her husband, Terryl (Preston, Idaho); son, Kevin (Preston, Idaho); daughter Linda LeFevre (Baraboo, Wisconsin).
Those preceding her in death, son, David; brother, Willis; sister, Ann Jensen; sister, Gay Thomson; and of course, her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10 am in the Riverdale Second Ward Meeting House, Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home,1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho, and Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will then take place at Etna, Wyoming cemetery in Star Valley, Wyoming following the service.

A Celebration of Life for Ken Schaible will be held on Saturday, February 8, 4 p.m. at the Etna Community Center.
