74-year-old Green River Woman dies in I-80 accident Friday

A 74-year-old Green River woman became the 30th fatality on Wyoming’s roads in 2019 following an accident on I-80 Friday.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports that the fatal accident occurred on March 15 at milepost 33 on Interstate 80 near Evanston, Wyoming.  Around 7:30 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a three-vehicle collision.

A 2019 Volvo Conventional was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 and collided with a 1980 Ford 8000 decommissioned fire truck.  After the Volvo struck the rear portion of the fire truck, it crossed the median and entered the eastbound lanes before coming to a stop.  A driver of a 2002 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound was unable to avoid the Volvo and collided with the trailer.

The driver of the Toyota Camry has been identified as 78-year-old Green River, Wyoming resident Ronnie Beck.  The driver was wearing his seatbelt and transported to Evanston Regional Hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash.  The passenger in the Toyota has been identified as 74-year-old Green River, Wyoming resident Ruth Beck.  The passenger was wearing her seatbelt but succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash after being transported to Evanston Regional Hospital.

The driver of the 2019 Volvo has been identified as 49-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina resident Murad Temish.  Temish was wearing his seatbelt and transported to the Evanston Regional Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.  The passenger in the Volvo was transported to the Evanston Regional Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the 1980 Ford has been identified as 42-year-old Fort Bridger, Wyoming resident David Watson.  Watson was wearing his seatbelt and transported to the Evanston Regional Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Driver inattention is being investigated on the part of Temish as a contributing factor.  The roadway was dry at the time of the crash.

This is the 30th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 15 in 2018, 19 in 2017, and 10 in 2016 to date.
