Officials enact emergency closures in Martin Creek area due to active wildfires

The area is closed until November 30 unless otherwise notified.

Forest officials have enacted emergency closures in the region due to the multiple fires burning in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. According to information from the forest service the roads and trails that are closed are as follows:

“Beginning at Greys River Lake Road #10138 at its junction with McDougal Gap Road #10125, south east along Rd 10125 to Foster Meadows Road #10344, southeast to South Cottonwood Road #10050, then south to Wyoming Range Road #10046, south to the Long Hollow Trail #061, west to North Piney Lake and Lake Creek Trail #060, west across Road #10138 to Spring Road #10242 and Spring Creek Trail #042, north on Way Trail #079 to Bear Creek/Three Forks Creek Road #10214 and Greys River Lake Road #10138.”

Officials have stated that there are still open roads in the area. Those still open include the Mcdougall Gap Road #10125, and the Wyoming Range Road #10046. All other roads are closed.

The purpose of the closures is to “protect public safety in the presence of an active wildfire and wildfire suppression activities in the area.”

The news release stated that the order will be in effect until November 30 or until rescinded. Violations of the order is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations and/or imprisonment of not more than six months.
