The Roosevelt Fire which was started and discovered on September 15, 2018 is now being reported at 85-percent containment as of October 4 by the U.S. Forest Service.
According to officials the recent rain has aided in the efforts with minimal fire activity expected with the main objectives focused upon containment and continued assessment and implementation of suppression repair activities.
The information released still stressed that all evacuation zones are remaining at the “READY’ level.
A local Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the fire on Thursday, October 4, with operations based in Pinedale. The Incident Command Post in Bondurant is now closed.
The fire has consumed 61,511 acres and claimed 55 structures, the majority of which were homes in the Hoback Ranches area. There were also three injuries reported as part of the efforts.
According to officials, the fire was human caused in the form of an unattended warming fire left at mid-slope.
There are still 150 personnel on scene along with 15 engines.
