The accolades keep rolling in for the Star Valley Track & Field program as recent graduate Wyatt Moore has been named the Gatorade Athlete of the Year for the State of Wyoming.
Moore won both the 100 and 200 meter dash events at the Wyoming State Championships in the 4A classification in May and also competed in both events as well as the 1600 Meter Medley in the New Balance Nationals along with Asefa Wetzel, Peter Visser and Dean Shaw.
Moore is also the SVHS school record holder in both outdoor events, breaking a pair of long-held records that stood for over 30 years. He also holds the SVHS school records for the 55 Meter and 200 Meter dash events for the indoor program. Moore and Wetzel both will be running for the University of Wyoming this next year.
It is the first time a Star Valley athlete has won this particular award and it is also the first time that the school has had both the Cross-Country Athlete of the Year (Peter Visser) in the same school calendar. Moore joins Visser, Shane Henderson and Hailey (Ricks) Whetten (twice) to have won a Gatorade honor.
He is the son of David and Kathy Moore.
