Afton Volunteer Firefighters responded to a fire in the Osmond area Monday evening.

Fire Chief Dennis McDonald said an unknown object caused an explosion during a controlled burn.

Some neighbors reported hearing and feeling the explosion, but the homeowner was not sure what caused it.

No nearby buildings or structures were damaged, and the fire was controlled by the time firefighters arrived.
