Governor Gordon to recognize Wyoming 2-1-1 Day with proclamation signing

◆ 2-1-1 offers access to non-emergency health and human services information and referrals.

CHEYENNE, Wyo — Wyoming 2-1-1 will join 2-1-1 organizations across the United States in recognizing and celebrating 2-1-1 Day on February 11, 2022. Governor Gordon will then recognize the importance and impact of Wyoming 2-1-1 with a Proclamation Signing on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

Designated National 2-1-1 Day, February 11, is a day to inform people across the nation about non-emergency health and human services information and referrals available by contacting 2-1-1.

All 50 states have free 2-1-1 hotlines and websites. Dialing “211” provides individuals and families in need with a shortcut through what can be a bewildering maze of health and human service agency phone numbers.

Before Wyoming 2-1-1, there was no single, comprehensive statewide provider of information and referral for Wyomingites. With thousands of nonprofit organizations in Wyoming, plus scores of government agencies, finding help can often be confusing and intimidating. Now, Wyoming 2-1-1’s trained specialists are available to help people better understand their options and connect to the resources in their own communities. By simply dialing 211, those in need of assistance can be referred and connected to appropriate agencies and community organizations.

“We’re a small organization with an enormous reach. 2-1-1 is a flexible, nimble, and responsive partner of the Wyoming Department of Health and countless community organizations across the state,” said Director Sabrina Lane. “We’re able to make our community partners even more effective.”

At 3:00 on Wednesday, February 16, Governor Gordon will host the 2-1-1 Day Proclamation Signing in the Governor’s Ceremonial Room.

“We’re honored that the Governor continues to recognize the importance of Wyoming 2-1-1 as the backbone of Wyoming’s caring infrastructure,” said Board Chair Michele DeHoff.
