Two men from Thayne identified in fatal accident

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has released the identities of the two men who died after being hit by a car while crossing Highway 89 in Thayne. Phillip Pinnei, 59, of Thayne and James Garnet Booher Jr., 57, also of Thayne, were both pronounced dead at the scene. 

The accident took place on Friday, August 12 at approximately 10:20 p.m. when both Pinnei and Booher left Dad’s Bar and attempted to walk across Highway 89. According to WHP, an oncoming vehicle struck both men as they were crossing the road. The investigation showed that the driver of the vehicle was not speeding and was unable to swerve far enough to miss the two men due to oncoming traffic. The driver was deemed not at fault and no charges have been filed.
