Guests to the Lincoln County Fair this week will continue to find quality and unique entertainment options on all sides and at all times of the day.  Grandstand events include Bullfights with Mini-Bull Riding on Wednesday, August 9, followed by Freestyle Reining on Thursday evening. Traditional PRCA Rodeos will draw the crowds on Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12.

“The bull fights are pretty exciting,” said Ryan Lyman, Entertainment Chair with the Lincoln County Fair Board, in an interview with SVI News last week.  “These bulls are bred specifically for fighting. They are Spanish bred, and they are different from a rodeo bull. The bullfighters are in a circuit like a rodeo circuit, and they are trying to get points by creating dangerous encounters with the bulls like jumping over their backs or flipping  over the top of the bulls. They’ll get more points for the more dangerous stunts, which gets them more money in their circuit. They are trying to make it to the national finals for bullfighting. They are different from the bullfighters that protect the Cowboys in the rodeo. They are really just trying to get the bull to come at them, and then they do some kind of a trick or something when the bull charges them. The company that puts on the show brings judges, and they judge these bullfighters. This is something a little different and new that people might enjoy.”

The traditional PRCA Rodeo is a fan favorite each year, with cowboys and cowgirls competing to earn rankings and money, as well as qualify for national competition.

Board members work to keep the entertainment varied from year to year and strive to offer entertainment experiences that cater to individuals of all ages.

Daytime entertainment along the Midway includes Max Power and Nitro and the Sea Lion Splash. Several acts will stroll the grounds, greeting and delighting guests. The Bear Hollow Wood Cavers Performance Chainsaw Artists will be creating chainsaw art pieces that guests can purchase at an ongoing silent auction behind the main arena during the fair.  Funds raised from the auction will go toward maintenance and improvement of the fairgrounds.

“We’ve tried to put more entertainment under the tiny top this year,” said Lyman, referring to the smaller tent that’s set up toward the west end of the Midway.  “We’ve been slowly trying to build that up with more entertainment each year.”  Guests can expect to enjoy varied acts and fun there.

“We have more vendors this year than ever,” said Lyman.  “We are around 65 to 70 vendors, and they aren’t all food.  Maybe half of them are food vendors and the rest are selling merchandise or offering information. We are also trying to improve that experience for people, so this is the biggest Fair ever as far as vendors go.”

Guests can find all types of food, shows and fun at the Lincoln County Fair.  There’s the Carnival, Curly’s Funtastic Kidzone, Train Rides, interactive characters, and show-stopping acts.

“There’s a little bit of everything from little kids up to adults,” concluded Lyman.  “It should be fun for everybody.”
