• Over 60 cats and 15 puppies in need of vet care.
Star Valley’s animal shelter, Lucky’s Place Animal Humane Association of Star Valley will have it’s 9th annual Wag and Walk Fundraiser on August 26 at the Star Valley Ranch RV Resort.
People can bring a dog to walk/jog with, or come and take a shelter dog with you instead. The Wag and Walk course is 1-2 miles and all funds raised will go directly to the shelter to help pay for vet care of the recent surge in animals who have entered the shelter and foster homes.
Mary Ahrens shared that they have 60 cats with need of care, as well as 15 puppies who will also need care.
“We don’t even have an empty Kennel,” says Ahrens. “This has been a rough year with animals coming in and not going out.”
Ahrens invites the community to join the event, get a free t-shirt and help raise money for the shelter animals. The entry fee for the Wag and Walk is $25 and you can register online at luckys.place/events, at the shelter, or the day of the event.
“If you are unable to attend, but would still like to help the shelter,” Ahrens says, “We’re looking for volunteers; we’re looking for employees; we’re looking for everything. Any help is greatly appreciated. Come Volunteer at the shelter, foster an animal, donate supplies or money, adopt an animal or apply for a job.
