Pickup collides with tractor pulling plow

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday night an accident involving a pickup truck and a tractor took place at mile post 102.8 just south of the Cedar Creek turnout.

The tractor was pulling a plow and the driver of the pickup could not see it due to a lack of lighting and flashers according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

“They are both heading north with the tractor moving at approximately 15 mph,” stated Trooper Mike Merritt. “The tractor had no flashers and only one spotlight lighting up the chisel plow.”

The driver of the pickup locked up the brakes to approximately 30 mph before impacting the plow, breaking off two of the chisels and totaling the vehicle. No injuries were reported according to the WHP.

The road was blocked for approximately 30 minutes.

Merritt reminds residents that in a farming community being extra mindful will help avoid accidents such as this one.

“Even though you are farm-exempt, you have to have flashers and have to be visible,” he said. “Thankfully the driver of the truck was able to see things when they did to avoid a collision of 65-70 miles per hour.”

The driver of the tractor was cited for a lack of flashers and reflector lights.
