ORIGINAL STORY
The Wyoming Department of Transportation working with the Wyoming Highway Patrol have made the decision to close U.S. 26/89 over the Salt River Summit.
The closure duration is indefinite, There is no timetable for reopen
Steady snowfall combined with blustering and gusting wind over the past 24 hours have caused closures throughout the region in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. In addition, this particular stretch of road experienced an accident which has added to the difficulty of the situation.

Star Valley is under a winter storm warning until 8 p.m. Friday evening with anywhere from 3-5 inches of snow combining with gusting wind. Winds are projected for 20-25 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation in the area is at 90%.
Friday night temperatures are expected to drop below zero at -1 with wind chill values as low as -15 amid blustery conditions.
An additional 3-5 inches of snow are forecast for Saturday with more showers likely on Sunday.

Roads in Idaho have been closed off and on throughout Friday. Currently the road between Tin Cup and the Wyoming state line is closed. The stretch between Swan Valley and Ririe is now open but considered “difficult” according to the Idaho Transportation Department.
