Sometimes a single dollar is all you need.  At least, that was the case for one contestant on Jeopardy! after his two competitors bet everything they had on the final clue and lost.

The final prompt was: “It’s the only country the borders both the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.”  The correct answer is Iran.

With $1000 remaining, returning Champ Manny Abell bet $999 with the guess “What is Irag” leaving him with just $1.  But the next two contestants also got the answer wrong after betting everything they had, leaving Abell as the $1 winner.

According to the “Jeopardy” archives, a $1 winner has only happened one other time in the show’s history.  The last time was in 1993.
