Burley High School in southern Idaho was put on lock-down for 15 minutes Tuesday because of an angry bull on campus.
The Idaho State Journal reports that the Black Angus bull escaped from a livestock auction in Burley and began rampaging across town, trampling signs and charging at people.
Sheriff Jay Heward told the Idaho State Journal that the bull went through the College of Southern Idaho and Cassia Alternative High School campuses before making it’s way to Burly High School.
According to the Idaho State Journal, BHS Principal Levi Power said the school received a call from the sheriff’s office at 11:20 a.m. asking them to lock down the school because the bull was on the campus. The school’s exterior doors were locked just before students could leave for lunch.
According to Sheriff Heward, officers were not able to corral or stop the bull, so after following it off the school grounds the animal was shot and killed by police for public safety reasons.
Heward said property damage includes some pedestal signs the bull ran over.
