The following obituaries appeared in the December 27, 2017 edition of the Star Valley Independent

Jay Summers Casada, Nov. 2, 1964 – Dec. 13, 2017. A good soul who left us far too early, Jay lived his life as a glass half full. He had a knack for bringing a smile to everyone’s face, a laugh to everyone’s lips and lighting up the room when he walked in. His personality was infectious and a shining light has gone out of our world. Jay graduated from Star Valley High School, Afton, Wyoming, in 1983 and earned his teaching degree from Stephen F Austin University, Nacogdoches, Texas in 1989. He was passionate about his art and photography, leaving us with tangible memories of the world through his eyes. He also loved the outdoors, particularly golfing, fishing and hunting, always with a Labrador at his side. Jay is survived, and will be missed, by his daughter Summer Jean Casada, and numerous relatives and friends. Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” The memory of Jay’s smile will warm our hearts forever.
