Chance Steven Blankenship, Dustin Francis Brown and Blake Aden Thornock, all students in Lincoln County School District No. 2, have been awarded with scholarships from the Daniels Fund. Blankenship and Brown are students at Star Valley High School and Thornock is a student at Cokeville High School

They were named with the Daniels Fund announcement this week that included 238 high school seniors from Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado.

Blankenship, Brown and Thornock were honored for their exceptional character, leadership, and commitment to the community, according to the scholarship report.

The Daniels Scholarship Program had 2,250 students apply this year. Of the 238 students selected as 2018 Daniels Scholars, 36 are from Wyoming, 26 are from Utah, 30 are from New Mexico and 146 are from Colorado.

Daniels Scholars may attend any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States, and the program covers the expenses that remain after all other scholarships and financial aid have been applied.

“These young people have demonstrated the character, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities that define a Daniels Scholar,” said Linda Childears, president and CEO of the Daniels Fund. “Our goal is to help each of these scholars succeed in college and ultimately become independent, successful in a rewarding career, and actively engaged in their community.”

With this year’s announcement, more than 3,950 students have received the Daniels Scholarship. At any given time, nearly 1,000 Daniels Scholars are attending more than 200 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Since 2000, more than $170 million in scholarships has been awarded through the Daniels Scholarship Program.
