Deputies from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office stopped a suspicious vehicle on Iona Road near Hitt Rd. on Monday May 7.

The vehicle driver stated he had the components of a Mobile Meth Lab in the car.  Deputies identified at least one container with an active chemical inside.  The driver was detained with pending charges.

Idaho State Police, Idaho Falls Fire Department, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Regional Haz Mat Team are on site.  A section of Iona Road East of Hitt Rd is closed.

Handling the chemicals and rendering it safe is expected to take several hours.  “We encourage vehicle traffic to avoid Iona road East of Hitt Rd,” said Lt. Kevin Casper of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.  “We will update the status this afternoon.”
