***Update***
The most recent information from officials from the Bridger-Teton National Forest have the Flat Fire sized at 50 acres and is at approximately 18-percent containment.
The fire is located in the Squaw Creek drainage approximately five miles from the Town of Alpine.
***Original Story***
Officially the Fire Trail Fire or “Flat Fire” was reported in the Squaw Creek drainage just outside of Alpine on the afternoon of Saturday, August 11. Initial reports had the fire at approximately 30 acres. According to the most recent information from officials on the scene have confirmed the size of the blaze to be 50 acres. The Bridger-Teton National Forest has sta
ted that a Type 3 Incident Management Team has been ordered to assist the Forest Service in their efforts.
At this time the Squaw-Murphy Creek road is closed but the Greys River Road remains open Officials have stated that an ATV rollover is the cause of the fire but no injuries have been reported.
Officials have also stated that aircraft will be scooping water out of the Palisades Reservoir to dump on the fire.
