Southwest Sports Preview: August 24 & 25

SVI Media is pleased to expand our footprint and endeavor to bring other regional communities great sports coverage in the 2018-19 school year. Radio broadcasts will take place under the SVI umbrella in Kemmerer, Cokeville and Montpelier with video coverage expanding to Pinedale. Using The Spur (105.3 FM and 940 AM) out of Kemmerer, SVI is also reaching into the Bridger Valley. Click here to listen to the great country music from The Spur

Kemmerer High School
Volleyball: The Rangers are at the Riverton Invitational this weekend. On Friday they will face Cody at 2 p.m., Worland at 5 p.m. and Shoshoni at 7 p.m.
Football: It will be a battle of border towns as the Rangers host the Cokeville Panthers Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Golf: The golf teams competed at the 2nd Annual Terry Berg Invitational in Lander where the boys finished fifth with a team score of 780. Rayace Kindsahuh led the Rangers with a score of 179.

Cokeville High School
Volleyball: Panthers are in Pool ‘A’ as part of the Cokeville Invitational along with Grace (ID), Green River and Alta (UT). Matches begin at 8 a.m. on Friday morning versus Grace. Cokeville will face Green River at 1 p.m. and Alta at 8:30 p.m.
Football: The Panthers will play under the lights on Friday as they make the short trip to Kemmerer to take on the Rangers for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Bear Lake High School
Volleyball: The Bears are in Pool ‘B’ as part of the Cokeville Invitational along with Campbell County (Gillette), Star Valley and Lyman. BLHS will face Gillette at 8 a.m. They will play Lyman at 3:30 p.m. and Star Valley at 6 p.m.
Football: The Bears open up their gridiron season on the road against Rich County, Utah with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
Cross-Country: Bear Lake High School opens up their XC schedule on Saturday, September 1 at the Cardinal Classic in Soda Springs.

Mountain View High School
Volleyball: The Buffalos are in Pool ‘C’ as part of the Cokeville Invitational along with Rich County (UT), Evanston and Preston (ID). MVHS will face off against Preston at 10:30 a.m.on Friday morning. They will then take on Rich County at 1 p.m. and Evanston at 6 p.m.
Football: The Bufffalos begin their Wyoming 2A state title defense this Friday in a Zero Week contest against the Green River Wolves at 7 p.m.
Cross-Country: The Buffalos will be at the Green River Invitational this Friday to begin their season.

Lyman High School
Volleyball: The Eagles are in Pool ‘B” as part of the Cokeville Invitational along with Campbell County (Gillette), Bear Lake (ID) and Star Valley. LHS will play Star Valley at 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning. They then compete against Bear Lake at 3:30 p.m. and Gillette at 8:30 p.m.
Football: The Eagles have a Zero Week game against Rawlins this Friday with a kickoff time of 6 p.m.
Golf: The Eagles played at the Terry Berg Invitational in Lander, finishing seventh in the boys team standings with a 787. Andrew H. led the team with a score of 175. The girls team did not have enough players to notch a team score but Kaylen W. competed with a score of 252.
Cross-Country: The Eagles will open up their season this Friday at the Green River Invitational.

Pinedale High School
Volleyball: The Wranglers are at the Riverton Invitational where they will face Worland at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. They will continue play against Shoshoni at 3 p.m. and Cody at 6 p.m.
Football: The Wranglers do have a Zero Week game and will begin their season on August 31 against the Lyman Eagles.
Golf: The golf teams for PHS will be at the Purple Sage Golf Course for the Evanston Invitational this Friday and Saturday.

Star Valley High School
Volleyball: The Lady Braves are in Pool ‘B’ as part of the Cokeville Invitational and will face off against Lyman, Gillette and Bear Lake this Friday
Football: The Braves will face off against Hillcrest (ID) as part of the Rocky Mountain Rumble in Pocatello at Holt Arena. The game will be on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. This game will be broadcast live and in high-definition by SVI Media here at SVInews.com. Tune into the Aspen Physical Therapy Kickoff Show beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The junior varsity team will host the Ririe (ID) varsity team at Braves Field on Friday at 6 p.m. The freshman team will also host Ririe at 3 p.m.
Cross-Country: Star Valley will host teams from eastern Idaho as well as Wyoming at Star Valley View Golf Course for a 5K course that will serve as a preview of the 2019 Wyoming state championships which will be held in Afton. Races begin at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Golf: The Braves golf team finished 3rd at the Terry Berg Invite in Lander while the Lady Braves were second. The teams will play again this weekend at the Evanston Invitational.
