SVI Sports Recap: October 26-27

Here’s a look at the teams in Lincoln County and how they performed over the weekend.

Cokeville High School
• Football: The Panthers from Lincoln County blitzed their cat-counterparts from far away with a 61-8 drubbing on Friday afternoon. The win moves them into the 1A semifinals as they host the Upton-Sundance Patriots this week with a 2 p.m. kick-off time at CHS.
• Volleyball: The Lady Panthers didn’t drop a single set as they swept their way to the 1A West Regional Championship in Lander over the weekend with victories over St. Stephens (25-7, 25-9 & 25-4), Farson-Eden (25-15, 25-13 & 25-10) and Little Snake River (25-20, 25-10 & 25-10). Cokeville now heads to the Wyoming State Championships where they face Arvada-Clermont on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Star Valley High School
• Football: The Braves rolled up over 500 yards of offense and had seven different players score touchdowns as they routed visiting Worland 48-0 in the 3A Quarterfinal round Star Valley will now have a rematch with the Cody Broncs who rallied from a 26-8 deficit to stun Douglas on the road. The Broncs ended Star Valley’s undefeated season in Afton a year ago. Kick-off team is scheduled for 7 p.m.
• Volleyball: The Lady Braves earned a trip to the 4A State Championship bracket with a sweep over Rock Springs and then a five-set classic against Cody in the semifinals. The Lady Brave then took the first two games from Kelly Walsh in the championship match before the Trojans rallied to come back and win in five games. As the #2 seed from the West, the Lady Braves now face Natrona County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening in Casper.

Kemmerer High School
• Football: The Rangers returned to the post-season for the first time since 2012 and made the trek to Buffalo to take on the top-ranked Bison on Friday. Buffalo jumped out to a 35-0 lead and the two schools traded scores down the stretch for a 50-20 final.
• Volleyball: Not expected to make the state bracket, the Lady Rangers pulled the Friday morning upset of Rocky Mountain (25-22, 25-16, 24-26, 25-27 & 15-7) to advance to the semifinals of the 2A West Regionals in Lander. After losing to #1 Shoshoni, the Rangers swept Wyoming Indian (25-13, 30-28 & 26-14) to punch their ticket to the 2A State Tournament. KHS faced Wind River for third place and lost in a tough five games, (33-31, 25-10, 14-25, 15-25 & 16-14). Kemmerer will face off against Wright in the 7:30 p.m. match on Thursday.
