The 5 Best Ski Slopes in Wyoming | Winter Sports Wyoming

Wyoming is a place that will surprise you—though it’s the least populous state in the U.S., it’s home to sprawling forests, national parks, and breathtaking mountains that make it anything but dull. Thousands of skiers choose Wyoming as their winter skiing destination. If you’re thinking about joining them, check out this list of the five best ski slopes in Wyoming.

Grand Targhee Resort

Located in Alta, just outside the Grand Tetons, the Grand Targhee Resort offers lodging and skiing in the high mountains. The snow here is deep and powdery, and the scenery is stunning for those who would like to take a break from skiing to enjoy Wyoming’s natural wonders. Grand Targhee trails are loved by all who visit, serving riders at every skill level with well-groomed slopes and terrain parks that offer jumps, boxes, rails, vertical taps, spines, and more! There are runs for people who want to try out cross-country skiing as well

Sleeping Giant Ski Area

This ski haven is 3.4 miles from Yellowstone National Park, right between the Shoshone River and the Absaroka Mountains. You can get there via the Sleeping Giant Ski Bus, which costs only $5 per rider, and there are wonderful hotels in the area that will house you and your family. With over 184 acres of prime skiing terrain, this area contains 49 runs and 2 terrain parks that are accessible by ski lift.

Jackson Hole

This skier’s paradise can be found in Teton Village near the Grand Teton National Park. Ski slopes in Jackson Hole are some of the most dangerous mountain slopes America has to offer. Many of the world’s best skiers come here for a challenge, so if you’re not at least at intermediate/expert level, then it’s best to leave this one off your list. The famous Corbet’s Couloir is a steep drop off the ridge of the mountain that tests even the most talented skier

Pine Creek

Just outside of Cokeville lies Pine Creek, a family-friendly and diverse ski area. It’s smaller than many others and has gentle slopes for beginners and intermediate skiers, which is why it’s popular among families. Though it has only one chair lift, that usually isn’t a problem, as this is a quieter destination for people looking for a relaxed skiing experience.

Hogadon Basin

The Hogadon Basin is a favorite amongst locals who know their way around steep slopes. This is another one where beginners may not fare so well, as most runs are short, hilly and high-speed—and there’s only one beginner’s run.
