A Montpelier man is behind bars on charges of child pornography and sexual abuse.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that Robert William Biggs, 49, was arrested on Monday, April 1.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, an arrest warrant was served on the day of the arrest charging Biggs with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, 3 counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of sixteen, and 1 count of lewd conduct with a minor under sixteen.  The charges are in relation to the manufacture, distribution and possession of child pornography.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the charges are the culmination of an investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office spanning several months.  The investigation is still continuing, and they ask that anyone who feels they have information relevant to this investigation to please contact Deputy Robert Pelto or Sheriff Bart Heslington at 208-945-2121.
