The Kemmerer/Diamondville Fireworks Committee has put on a memorable program honoring the veterans and fireworks show every Fourth of July for the last five years, but needs volunteers for this year’s program to keep the tradition alive.

The fireworks show will be happening as planned, however, the 30-minute program beforehand needs volunteers to help keep it running.

The program includes local groups singing the national anthem, a reading of the past veterans in the Kemmerer and Diamondville area who have served this country, and a raffle.

Bridget Stewart, a member of the Fireworks Committee, said it’s been a great show every year.

“We have great community support,” Stewart said. “We have lots of people from the community donate money to help run the show.”  (Listen to the full radio interview with Bridget here)

Stewart is one of just a few community members who serve on the committee. The committee thanks the community for the wonderful support by giving donations and participating in their fundraising events like the “jail and bail” and the gun raffles each year.

While they appreciate the monetary support, they’d also love to have support through volunteering.

Stewart said the only way the veteran honorary and celebration program portion of the fireworks show continue is if they have people volunteer to help run it.

“A lot of veterans come down for the program,” Stewart said.
