Wyoming is home to some of the most breathtaking sights in the country. One of the best ways to experience the state’s stunning mountain ranges and lush forests is to fully immerse yourself by staying at one of its many incredible campgrounds. If you’re looking for a place to take full advantage of the beautiful scenery, consider pitching a tent in one of the best camping sites in Wyoming.
Norris Campground, Yellowstone National Park
Located in the heart of Yellowstone, Norris Campground is situated close to the hottest thermal area in the entire park—the Norris Geyser Basin. Close by, you’ll also find the Gibbon River, the Museum of the National Park Ranger, the Norris Geyser Basin Museum, and a wide-open meadow where you can often see elk and buffalo grazing. The campground has over 100 nonelectric sites that can accommodate camping tents, trailers, and small RVs. If you choose to stay between June and September, you can partake in evening campfire programs in which a ranger will guide you through the grounds.
Gros Ventre Campground, Grand Teton National Park
Nestled in a grove of cottonwood trees and bordered by the Gros Ventre River, the Gros Ventre Campground provides a beautiful view of the Teton Range. It’s the closest campground to the town of Jackson and has over 300 sites, 36 of which offer electric hookups. All visitors can enjoy access to flushing toilets and cold potable water. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and include picnic tables, fire pits, and parking for two cars or one RV.
Mammoth Hot Springs Campground, Yellowstone National Park
The Mammoth Hot Springs Campground is the only campground in Yellowstone open year-round. Located just five miles from the park’s northern entrance, it’s situated close to one of the only legal thermal soaking areas in the park—the Boiling River. Its 85 nonelectric sites include firepits with grates and picnic tables as well as shared access to flushing toilets, food storage boxes, and potable water.
The stunning scenery and incredible locations of these three best camping sites in Wyoming surely won’t disappoint on your next camping excursion.
