According to the public affairs office of Yellowstone National Park, an accident near the South Entrance has claimed the life of a 13-year old Colorado boy.
“At about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, a rental motorhome was involved in a single-vehicle accident on the South Entrance Road near Lewis Falls,” the statement read. “There were three on board. Nathaniel Robert Ullom, age 13, of Elizabeth, Colorado, was declared deceased on scene. The father, Phillip Ullom, was transported by ground ambulance to St. John’s Medical Center in Jackson. Phillip Ullom III, the decedent’s twin brother, was flown from the scene by an Air Idaho Rescue helicopter to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.”
The release also stated that the accident remains under investigation. The road leading to the South Entrance was closed for a number of hours while those on the scene worked to extricate those individuals involved. Assistance was also provided by Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS.
