The Town of Alpine has approved an annexation measure this summer that will include expansion across the Snake River.
Areas included in the annexation are Targhee Place and the KJ’s Store, on U.S 26, in addition to the corner where a grocery store will be located at some point in the future.
“We’re annexing all the way to Targhee,” Mayor Kennis Lutz said. “It’s official.”
Water and sewer services will be a part of the expansion. The mayor noted the additional sewer connections will help the town’s system work better. Another treatment system will also be installed.
As the town expands, Alpine’s mayor says it is a very busy summer for the community located at a major intersection for highways from Idaho and Wyoming and the confluence of the Salt, Greys and Snake rivers.
