Bonneville County Sheriffs Office to participate in the State of Idaho Aggressive Driving Mobilization.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, along with Law Enforcement Agencies all across the State of Idaho, are adding extra officers to our streets, roads, and highways between July 26, 2019 and August 7, 2019 to target aggressive drivers. The Idaho Office of Highway Safety contracts with Law Enforcement Agencies to get more officers on the road to decrease the occurrences of aggressive driving habits.
During this time of year, notably called the deadliest 100 days of summer, many of our serious injury and fatal crashes are tied to speeding and aggressive driving. These extra officers will be on the lookout for these and other types of traffic violations in order to help educate and curb bad driving habits.
Traffic laws exist to help the motoring public travel and flow as safely as possible, it is very important to have patience in your driving and obey traffic laws. Being in a hurry does not give you the right of way around other traffic and most of the time doesn’t save more than a few moments if you had been driving the speed limit all along.
Avoiding aggressive driving doesn’t only mean obeying the speed limit, it also means using your turn signal, coming to a complete stop at stop signs, and obeying all traffic control devices. Make sure and yield to emergency vehicles and slow down around construction areas and vehicles pulled to the side of the road.
Please help us keep you and your family safe on our Bonneville County roads by utilizing safe driving habits and obeying traffic laws. Pay attention to your driving and avoid distractions like cell phones and electronics. And ALWAYS make sure you and the occupants of your vehicle are properly buckled in and taking advantage of the safety systems in your vehicle. It’s your absolute best chance of avoiding injury in the unfortunate event you are involved in a collision
The motto this year for Idaho’s Office of Highway Safety is simple “Drive well Idaho”.
