Wyoming’s Department of Education recently released WY-TOPP test results and Lincoln County School District No. 1 all met the requirements with one school exceeding them.
Superintendent Teresa Chaulk for the district says Kemmerer Elementary School, Canyon Elementary School, and Kemmerer Junior/Senior High School all met the requirements. New Frontier High School exceeded the requirements.
“We’re very thrilled with our scores,” Chaulk said. “That just says we’re on the right track and we have a lot of work to do to keep going to get all of our schools to that exceed rating.”
Chaulk believes this is an indication that LCSD1 is on the right track in making educational gains and students are growing each year as the state predicts they should.
“It’s a big job,” Chaulk said. “If you’re proficient on WY-TOPP in third grade to maintain that proficiency in fourth grade is still a big jump.”
Chaulk says you have to make sure the curriculum aligns and that a student is receiving the appropriate information so that they can continue to learn and succeed in school.
