LSCD2 announces changes to Veteran’s Day Tributes for 2019

Veteran’s Day tributes and celebrations will have a new face at Lincoln County School District No. 2 in 2019.

District Officials will host Veterans for a luncheon at the district office building on Monday, November 11 at 11:45 a.m.

Programs paying tribute to veterans will be presented throughout the district in schools at different times.
Veterans are invited to attend the luncheon and any other programs they choose.

“We have traditionally recognized veterans every year in LCSD2,” said Amanda McAdams, LCSD2 Curriculum Director. “This year, we thought we would improve our recognition by adding a new lunch program and improving the all-day program schedule.”

In the past, the Afton Veterans of Foreign Wars, under the direction of Commander Chuck Sutter, organized veterans to attend programs at schools throughout Star Valley, which required much effort and extensive communication.

To reach more veterans and to help schools with planning, LCSD2 has created the new event schedule.

“Each school will still have their own unique program, and veterans will still enjoy traditions at various schools. The big changes are the addition of the luncheon program at the district office and scheduling programs in the upper and lower valleys to occur simultaneously.”

Please see the schedule of events below:

At the district office, veterans will enjoy a personal welcome from Superintendent Matt Erickson and a delicious lunch and dessert catered by LCSD2 employees and local business, Sweet Confections.
All veterans are invited to attend this luncheon, and will need to RSVP by November 4 to Amanda McAdams at ammcadams@lcsd2.org or at (307) 885-3811.

“We think these changes will make Veteran’s Day even more special as we take the time to honor our veterans for their service to our great nation,” said McAdams.  “Personally, I do not take freedom for granted. My father, Jim Carpenter, is a Vietnam veteran who served in the Air Force and my father-in-law, Donald McAdams, is a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant.   I am so grateful for their service in the United States Air Force and for their sacrifice to provide the freedoms we enjoy today.  Thank you to all our veterans and servicemen and women.”
