Charlotte Black of the Bridger Valley Chamber of Commerce says there are lots of opportunities to celebrate the Christmas season in the valley.
On Friday was the Mountain View Park tree lighting event. People can adopt a tree in the park and have lights installed to brighten it up. Black says if you missed the lighting, it’s not too late to see it as it goes all winter.
“Each one of those trees is dedicated to somebody,” Black said. “It’s pretty touching to walk through that park.”
She did say if you want to come take in Christmas music to the lights, they only do that through the holiday season.
The Chamber Light Parade is happening this Friday as well staring at 5:30. It will be going through Lyman and will begin at the Lyman Rodeo grounds.
“You just do a float like you would for a parade,” Black said. “It’s beautiful and you just light it up with all the Christmas lights and do any scene you’d like as far as Christmas or holiday goes.”
She says they are still taking registrations for those, but that will end Monday or Tuesday as they will need to get a lineup put together.
“What’s great about this is it’s just anybody,” Black said. “This isn’t a school thing or a town thing, or a Chamber thing it’s anybody. It’s families can get together and do one or a business.”
She says the registration process is easy and she would love to have more floats to light up the town with.
This will be done in conjunction with the Craft Fair at Lyman High School. She says there will be over 70 booths for the event.
“From food to crafts, there was even a magic a guy last year that came down and did magic for the kids and showed them at his booth,” Black said. “There’s a lot going on down there and we also do our Santa pictures.”
This is Friday from 4 to 9 P.M. and on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.
There is also another event at Fort Bridger called the Victorian Christmas.
“They’re trying to recreate what it would be like in the Victorian times for Christmas,” Black said. “They’re kind of just trying to raise money for food for the Food Bank.”
She says it is $5 per person, but if you bring a food pantry item you get in for free. Children 12 and under also get in free. It will be December 15th and have activities for kids.
