Saturday will be qualification runs, starting at 8 a.m. If qualifications are completed on Saturday before the race day deadline (5 p.m.) then finals will begin.
All remaining finals will be run on Sunday starting at 8 a.m.
“This is one of the most challenging hills on the race circuit,” said Kaydene Andrews, one of the event coordinators. “It is very exciting to watch.”
February weather has been ideal for creating a challenging climb. The course is in great shape, according to the event team.
“Some of the top riders are hometown,” said Andrews.
Local riders always draw an impressive crowd to cheer them on, Andrews said.
In addition to seeing top of the line sleds and sledders, the 2020 Afton Hill Climb will offer spectators a chance to be winners, themselves.
“We will have a 50/50 raffle for prizes and money,” said Andrews. “Food vendors will have breakfast as well as burgers, fries, funnel cakes and other fried goodies throughout the day.”
There will be event apparel for sale on cite as well.
Spectators park their vehicles in the designated parking area in Grover and then access the event using a shuttle service. The parking and shuttle service are free.
According to Andrews, the Afton Hill Climb event is a great way to spend a winter weekend in Wyoming.
Viewing areas will be set up with grandstand style seating.
The event is designed for spectators of all ages and has free admission.
