The following is a press release from Lincoln County School District #2
Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID19) Informational Update
March 13, 2020
Today Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jillian Balow, along with Dr. Alexia Harrist of the Wyoming Department of Health, held a conference call for all Wyoming Superintendents.
At this time, there is only one identified case of the Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID19) in Wyoming. As a school district, we are closely monitoring the situation and taking guidance from Lincoln County Public Health, Wyoming Department of Health, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Presently, the Wyoming Department of Health is not recommending to close schools. Please note: this is a very fluid situation and things can change rapidly.
In addition to today’s conference call, yesterday, Lincoln County School District #2 participated in a community planning meeting led by Lincoln County Emergency Management. We will continue to collaborate with local agencies and monitor the ever-changing circumstances.
In Lincoln County School District #2 health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. We all play a role in reducing the likelihood of a COVID19 outbreak in our community. Wyoming Department of Health emphasizes the importance of preventive measures to help limit and delay community spread, specifically to our most vulnerable populations. We encourage everyone to practice good habits, including:
-
Wash your hands regularly, especially after using the restroom and before preparing or consuming food. Using soap and hot water, wash for about 20 seconds. Be sure to also wash your fingertips.
-
Avoid coughing or sneezing into your hands or in the air. Always try to cough or sneeze into a tissue, and then throw the tissue away. If you don’t have a tissue, cough/sneeze into your arm.
-
As much as you can, avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
-
We encourage staff and students to stay home when sick to limit the risk of infecting others.
Please refer to our website and/or Facebook page for regular updates.
Thanks,
Matt Erickson, Superintendent LCSD#2
