The Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies visited Star Valley on Wednesday, April 2 with their mobile food pantry. The event was part of the Wyoming Hunger Initiative’s efforts to fight hunger during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The food was donated to local families in need at the Afton Readiness Center. More information about the Wyoming Hunger Initiative can be found at NoHunerWyo.org, which includes county by county resources.
Due to the economic impacts of COVID-19, the local need for food donations is increasing. Sierra Mitchell with the Afton Food Pantry spoke with Duke Dance during the Weekday Wakeup on SVI Radio (Swift 98/The Spur) about the local needs. You can listen to the full interview at SVInews.com/radio or on the radio page of the new SVI News App.
In addition, a local food drive is planned for this weekend and next week. Donations can be dropped off to the Afton Food Pantry and Thayne Food Bank Saturday morning from 8-10 am or Monday-Wednesday from 4-6 pm.
