Deanne (Allred) Humpherys, 82, of Thayne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020 surrounded by her husband, and their eight children.
Deanne was born on December 4, 1937, in Afton, Wyoming. She was the sixth of seven children of Harvey Rich Allred and Margaret Lovina (Barrus) Allred. Deanne was raised on a farm in Fairview, Wyoming and graduated from Star Valley High School in 1956.
She married the love of her life, Jerry Ray Humpherys, on July 15, 1957, in the Logan Utah Temple. They lived for a time in Logan Utah where their first three children were born. In 1961 Deanne and Jerry moved back to Star Valley to work on and eventually take over the Humpherys’ farm in Thayne. It was on that beloved land that they raised their eight children with a strong sense of service, love, and an appreciation of hard work.
Deanne was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding numerous callings throughout her lifetime. She had a great interest and love for her pioneer ancestors and was proud that they served the Church for generations. Deanne’s reverence for the Church was equaled only by the love she had for her children.
Deanne’s legacy is profound and her influence will be felt for many generations. She spent her life in loving service and sacrifice on behalf of her children. Through her example, she taught her children to be faithful, hard working, and industrious. Her life’s work and glory is, and continues to be the success and happiness of her children. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ray Humpherys, two sisters, eight children, 35 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Her children and their spouses are: Mark (Jann Lowe), Carolyn (Gerry Collins), Randy (Sally Roberts), Julie (John Baker), Brian (Gayle Gold), Jana (Brandon Burnham), Teresa (Mike Mitchell) and Michael (Julie Nishimoto).
A graveside service was held on Saturday May 2, 2020, at the Thayne Cemetery.
On April 25, 2020, Norville Rich Broadbent passed away at the age of 86 after battling cancer for three and a half years. He left this earth peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Norville was born September 20, 1933 in Afton. He was the fifth and last child born to John Elmer Broadbent and Jean Allred Rich. He was born and raised in Star Valley. He developed a love for music in elementary school, starting out on the viola and changing to the trombone in high school and college where he played in the orchestra, concert, marching, pep, symphony and dance bands. He has enjoyed singing in church choir.
He had a passion for flying at an early age and earned a Bachelor of Science degree of Engineering in Aeronautical Technology. He received a United States Air Force commission as a 2nd Lt. through ROTC. He served as an active duty pilot for three years and continued in the reserves for five years. He worked for Boeing as an aeronautical engineer for several years in the Seattle area and one and a half years in New Orleans. His next career move was to be a dentist. He attended dental school at University of Washington, graduating in 1970. He parcticed dentistry in Renton, Washington for 36 years and retired in 1996.
Norville was married to Leoyce Henderson on September 19, 1955 in the Logan, Utah temple. Together they served two local missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and one in Tallahassee, Florida. He also served in various church callings including bishoprics, high council and the stake young men’s presidency.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by his four children; Calen H Broadbent (Stephanie), Diane Broadbent Herman, Scott Alan Broadbent (Kendra) and Patti Broadbent Johnson (Shane). They have 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Elmer Broadbent and Jean Allred Rich, and his siblings; Wayne Broadbent, Lorna Broadbent Calton, Buhl Broadbent and Vera Broadbent Call.
Norville will be laid to rest at the Afton Cemetery. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m.
Paul Robert Turner was born October 11, 1960 in Gardena, California and passed away April 20, 2020 in Salt Lake City.
He grew up in Gardena, as did Leslie, his future wife. They met in the summer of 1984 and were married In October of 1987.
Paul never had an enemy, not one person alive would be able to speak a bad word. He made friends wherever he was and would do anything for you. His heart was pure gold. He absolutely loved the outdoors which is what brought him to Wyoming.
Leaving his passion for surfing in California, he and Leslie made the trek to Jackson for good, after many vacations, in 1992. Here he discovered his new passions, fly fishing and rafting. Working as a painter his whole life, he was blessed to work and play in a place he loved. Paul and Leslie moved from Jackson to Alpine in 1998.
Paul caught pneumonia in March 2019 which was the beginning of a 13 month health battle. His body fought so hard for all those months but just needed to finally rest. He was tired. He passed into the arms of our Lord very peacefully.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Jane, and brothers, Tim and Jerry.
He leaves behind his wife Leslie, brother and sister-in-law Danny and Kathy Cloud (Costa Mesa, California), his much loved fur babies Buster, Hurley, Jimmy, Buddy and Missy Marie, cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many, many friends.
He will be missed immensely, but is in no pain and has found peace.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
