Kemmerer City Administrator, Brian Muir, says the Fishing Derby event will still be held this summer, but will see some changes due to COVID-19.

Children 13 and under can go to the community pond and have their picture taken. Then you can submit these photos between June 1 and June 30 to Darlene Schulthess who serves as the city’s Program Coordinator.

“Even if they don’t get a fish,” Muir said. “The fact that they tried, they take a picture of themselves at the pond that qualifies them to get into the drawing for some prizes. That’s a creative way that we’ve been able to keep that event going.”

He says you can either text the photos to Schulthess or mail them in. You can also email them in to dschulthess@kemmerer.org.

Muir also says that they will be posting the pictures to Facebook unless otherwise asked not to when you submit your photos.
