A 43-year-old man from Green Bay, Wisconsin lost his life in a single vehicle crash on I-80 Tuesday.
They Wyoming Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred at milepost 41 east of Lyman around 12:46 p.m. A 2018 Freightliner Convention commercial truck, driven by Kevin W. Smith, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 when Smith failed to negotiate a slight curve to the right. The Freightliner crossed the left lane and entered the median before overturning.
Uinta County Fire and Ambulance said a medical helicopter from the University of Utah was also dispatched to assist.
WHP says Smith was wearing his seatbelt but succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Driver inattention or fatigue is being investigated as possible contributing factors.
This is the 27th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020 compared to 64 in 2019, 36 in 2018, and 6 in 2017 to date.
