Wednesday, May 27 a gift basket was delivered to the Star Valley Health Clinic in Alpine. The gift basket was a way to say thank you to local health care providers.
“The basic idea of this was for a way for the Alpine Community to demonstrate their appreciation for all that our medical center staff has been through for the last few months,” said Carol Jones, one of the organizers of the project.
Jones credits her daughter, Bekah Gheen, with the idea of showing appreciation to health care providers.
“We both went to the businesses around Alpine and asked for donations for a gift basket,” said Jones. “We emphasized that we were not looking for huge gifts as we realized some of these businesses were just barely reopening and had had a tough time for the last few months.”
“Everyone we talked with [was] super excited about the project and gave very generously to the gift basket,” Jones continued. “We thought a small basket would suffice but as you can see in the photos we had to decorate two boxes as well as we had so many great donations.”
More than 30 businesses made the decision to be a part of the gift basket “thank you” project.
According to Jones, the health care staff were “very surprised and very grateful for the community thinking of them.”
