Afton Fire Department battles Auburn blaze; wind storm knocks out power and uproots trees
A peaceful Saturday evening turned quite eventful in a short period of time as a wind storm uprooted trees and knocked out power to parts of the upper valley during the dusk hours of May 30.
Reports of lost power were handled by Lower Valley Energy as crews restored electricity.
The gusts were enough to topple trees in the Fairview area.
Not long after the sun went down the Afton Volunteer Fire Department was called out to the Auburn area where a home was on fire and lighting up the sky.
It is unknown at this time whether the wind storm and the fire are connected.
More information on both the loss of electricity any possible reports of damage as well as details about the fire will be added here.
